Shawna's background is extensive
With 34 years combined experience in journalism and media relations, Shawna has spent her career on both sides of the story. She is best known as a popular television news journalist; prime news anchor for CTV Edmonton and co-host for CTV-2’s Alberta Primetime.
Shawna is also an award winning media relations specialist. She has managed media relations (acting as spokesperson) for both the Edmonton Humane Society and the City of Edmonton’s Transportation Department. She has also spent close to 20 years as the City of Edmonton’s media relations/spokesperson training specialist.
This experience gives her a perspective that most media trainers don’t have. She knows how newsrooms work, how reporters make decisions under deadline, and firsthand exactly what organizations need to do (and say) to get their message through clearly and safely.
